My week in review: Feb. 5-11
We are back. I write this as the temperatures are about to drop here in Minnesota. It’s a tough winter, but not nearly as bad as last year. Soon enough, we’ll be celebrating warm weather. But there’s plenty of work to be done. Here’s what my last week looked like.
Feb. 5: Writing and baching
This past week, we had the rare Wednesday Bachelor episode. Prior to that, I spent some serious time knocking out articles, which you will find at the end of this article (Apologies for last week’s omission). My overall takeaway so far from this season is that the women are very unlikeable. In my time watching, I feel like I’ve found women to root for, but this season has not been the case. I have no empathy for any of them. In this case, I hope the Bachelorette is some not from this season. But that’s enough of that.
Feb. 6: Writing but also being a fan
This Thursday was yet another opportunity to write but also be a fan. Occasionally, yours truly has a chance to be a fan and get some nice tickets from work. This was the case. I got my brother, Mom and Dad tickets to the Wild game against Vancouver. The tickets were great. They were free and at the top row of a section behind the goal. You could stand whenever you wanted and a gave you a solid view of what was going on.
Feb. 6: Two very different events
This was a day to put on the iHeart hat in two different ways. The morning was an event at Utepils Brewery in Minneapolis for a live broadcast of the KFAN Power Trip After Party Podcast. It was cool to see all the rubes show up and get some free Dickey’s BBQ.
Later that day, I was back on that iHeart grind. This time, it was with K102. We were promoting the Brantley Gilbert concert at Target Center. I think my favorite part of this job might be this. We basically hang out at bars near the concert venue promoting K102 and trying to get our brand out there with the people. So, this night, I was at Cowboy Jack’s talking to people and getting pictures on behalf of K102. It was a really fun time. I really like country shows because the people are passionate about the music and excited to be there.
Feb. 8: On that Wolves grind
On this Saturday, I knew it’d be an interesting day working in Timberwolves land. This was the team’s first game since making some major trades and completely restructuring the roster. It was a lot to figure out how we were going to handle it in the pregame show, which meant showing video that introduced fans to the team’s new players. We had a lot of ground to cover and I think that’s what happened in the pregame show. As for the game against the heavyweight LA Clippers, I thought the Wolves would be fired up and play them tight. I did not expect the Wolves to blow the Clippers’ socks off. It was a crazy game and so much fun to be part of.
Feb. 9: Time to catch up
After a 13-hour day previously, this Sunday was a good chance to relax, cuddle with the dog and get caught up on a few things around the house. It was also a good time for family time, which was really nice. Not too much to report. I have not been avid moviegoer for a while now so the Oscars don’t do much for me.
Feb. 10: Writing and Baching
It’s become a bit of a routine of sorts for Monday to be all about me writing and then watching the Bachelor. That was the case on this Monday. I worked on the top performer articles for the MN Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Hubs. I also worked on some other stuff coming your way soon. Then, I spent Monday evening watching the latest iteration of the Bachelor. My biggest takeaway remains that I really don’t like the girls. This week did not help that. And as we saw in the preview for next week, the real Victoria is about to come out. It’s gonna be a mess.
Feb. 11: A Wild Day
This is another one of those long, 13-hour days. I started by editing for the Wild pregame show. Apparently, I have a knack for working shows that happen right after big trades and this was the case as the Wild traded Jason Zucker the night before. That surely threw a wrench into things for the Wild and their fans. It wasn’t quite as monumental as the Wolves’ deals, but a deal nevertheless. I had fun putting this together and then heading over to Xcel Energy Center to be in the truck for the Wild-Vegas game. The Wild rolled to a 4-0 victory, which is a good way to put a pep into your step work-wise.
Alright, that’s it. Thanks for reading!
